A very nice and typical museum. Free and quite interesting of the local area
Getting off a cruise and spending 1/2 day in Dover before proceeding up to London, can be a bit disorienting. This museum and visitor's centre is a good place to start for a number of reasons:1) The people were really friendly and gave out lots of good advice.2) It's right in the centre of town with shops, restaurants, buskers all around and the Castle and Train station not too far away either.3) They have places to do your biological business (they share the facilities with the movie theatre).4) There's actually a quite good museum upstairs explaining the history of Dover . . . this is worth 1/2 hour right there.5) The souvenir items are very reasonably priced6) Have I mentioned the ladies working there were very nice and friendly?
Really interesting museum of local history. Amazingly well-preserved bronze age boat in its own gallery in the top floor. Worth two hours of anyone's time.
A really good local museum. covers Dover's history well. Definitely worth a visit with the added bonus that it is free entry.
I love museums and this one, although quite small punches above its weight and has so much info about Dover. It's pretty awesome and wait till you see the viking boat they found under the street!!
